Finite Element Analysis of a Steel Bracket The image shows a bracket from a wind turbine. The finite element model shows a high stress region around the weld toe, which correctly predicted failure locations seen in service. |

As a result the model was subsequently used as a tool in redesigning the bracket to remove this high stress region. |
